Cleaning the chaff collector

After a period of roasting you may find that there is a buildup of coffee oils and your glass is no longer as see-through as it once was. It is a simple enough process to get it back to brand new.

To start off you will need to disassemble the chaff collector. There was a guide included with a step by step walkthrough on how to take it apart, if you don’t have that on hand then follow these steps.

Turn the lid anticlockwise to unlock it.

Remove the lid as if you were disposing of chaff after a roast.

Remove the chaff collection bin.

Turn the chaff collector upside down.

Turn the base cap anticlockwise to unlock it.

Remove the base cap.

Remove the rubber seal.

Carefully remove the inner glass tube.

Carefully remove the outer glass tube.

Remove the second rubber seal.

Now with all the pieces pulled apart you can wipe down the plastic components with a damp cloth to remove an fine chaff or coffee oils.

For the glass components we recommend mixing some coffee machine cleaner with some warm water and gentle cleaning the glass with a soft cloth. Once you have wiped off all the coffee oils then either let it drip dry or wipe it dry using a microfiber cloth.

Please ensure that all of the components are dry before assembling.

To reassemble the chaff collector, follow the disassembly instructions in reverse.
