The BOOST feature automatically adjusts the fan speed profile according to the load size entered prior to roasting.

The default fan speed profile is designed for a load size of 120g. This means its ‘reference load size’ is 120g. Do not change this if you are using the default fan profile. If you change this the BOOST system will apply incorrect fan speeds.

But if you are designing your own fan profile you are free to design for any load size. This setting lets the BOOST system know the load size you have designed for. For example, you might design a fan profile to work optimally with 80g. Enter a reference load size of 80. This means the BOOST feature will use the fan profile unadjusted for a load of 80g, and will adjust the fan to run faster for 100g, 120g etc, or slower for 70g, 60g, etc.

When would you alter the reference load size of a profile?

If you have a profile that you know is designed for 100g or 80g, but you obtained it before ‘reference load size’ was available as a setting, you can edit the profile yourself in Kaffelogic Studio to ensure it has the correct 'reference load size' setting.

Notes

  • Reference load size requires Kaffelogic Studio version 6.1.4 or higher and firmware v7.10.6 or higher.

  • Reference load size works best with firmware version 7.11.1 or higher (due to a small problem with fan preview and reference load size in v7.10.6).
