To function at its best your Kaffelogic fan needs to be calibrated to give correct bean circulation.

How to check bean circulation

  1. Weigh 120g of green beans and load these into your roaster.

  2. Put the chaff collector in place.

  3. Select the K-logic classic profile.

  4. Press ≡. When you see ‘Press ⏵ now for fan preview’, press ⏵. The fan will start.

  5. The display will show 120g and 14700 rpm. If it does not, use + and - until it does.

  6. Look at the bean circulation. The beans should be circulating gently. Pay particular attention to the beans in the middle which should be slowly turning over.

  7. If there is no circulation of beans in the middle you need to re-calibrate.

Notes

How to re-calibrate

  1. Weigh 120g of green beans and load these into your roaster.

  2. Put the chaff collector in place.

  3. Hold down both the + and - buttons while you turn the roaster on. It will enter calibration mode.

  4. Press ≡ until you see ‘Press ⏵ now for fan at 14700 rpm’. Press ⏵. The fan will start.

  5. The display will show ‘fan 14700’. If it does not, turn the roaster off and start again.

  6. Look at the bean circulation. The beans should be circulating gently. Pay particular attention to the beans in the middle which should be slowly turning over. See the ‘Calibration Guide’ video (link below).

  7. Use the + and - buttons to alter the circulation until the beans in the middle just start to circulate.

  8. Press ⏵ twice to save the setting. The display will briefly show ‘Saved'.

  9. Turn the roaster off to exit calibration mode.

Notes

How to select suitable beans

Your roaster should be calibrated using beans of a medium size and density. We recommend Brazil Cerrado, Columbia Popayan or similar. Do not use very small or particularly dense beans. Do not use monsooned, decaf, or particularly large beans.

If you need to make adaptations to accommodate specific beans, do not do this by altering calibration. See Uneven roasting .
