Weigh 120g of green beans and load these into your roaster.
Put the chaff collector in place.
Hold down both the + and - buttons while you turn the roaster on. It will enter calibration mode.
Press ≡ until you see ‘Press ⏵ now for fan at 14700 rpm’. Press ⏵. The fan will start.
The display will show ‘fan 14700’ or ‘fan visual’. If it does not, turn the roaster off and start again.
Look at the bean circulation. The beans should be circulating gently. Pay particular attention to the beans in the middle which should be slowly turning over. See the ‘Calibration Guide’ video (link below).
Use the + and - buttons to alter the circulation until the beans in the middle just start to circulate.
Press ⏵ twice to save the setting. The display will briefly show ‘Saved'.
Turn the roaster off to exit calibration mode.

See below for how to select suitable beans.
If you have a mesh chaff collector with an opaque chimney you will have to remove the chaff collector lid so that you can see the beans.
Take care to select ‘fan at 14700 rpm’ of ‘fan visual’. There are other calibration settings which should not be changed except under instructions from an authorized Kaffelogic service agent.
Fan speed calibration at 14700 rpm requires firmware version 7.10 or higher. If you need to update, see Update firmware.
If you have correctly calibrated your bean circulation, but are still experiencing scorched beans and/or bean lock, see Bean lock.

If you need to make adaptations to accommodate specific beans, do not do this by altering calibration. See Uneven roasting .
Roasting at High Altitude
When you are situated at a high altitude and are roasting on the Nano7, the motor will need to spin faster in order to push enough of a volume of air through the beans in order to achieve optimal flow. This can sometimes lead to the calibration on the roaster being higher than normal.
If your calibration number is above 1.10, then please reduce your dose by 20g and repeat the above calibration protocol. This will mean that your roaster will be calibrated for 100g instead of 120g. If you dial back your batch size and optimal flow occurs at a value above 1.10 again then reduce the dose by 20g, and repeat the calibration protocol again. Continue this process until you have achieved ideal flow under a value of 1.10.
Remember that while at this high altitude calibration your standard dose will be different from the standard amount, however all profiles shared with you should work the same as anywhere else in the world.
